It’s doubtful that Martin Skok, the Czechoslovakian immigrant who in 1919 founded Elgin Industries, could have imagined that his fledgling operation would become one of the transportation industry’s largest and most respected manufacturers of engine and chassis components.
Skok’s company now operated by his grandchildren is celebrating its 88th anniversary with yet another expansion of its manufacturing capabilities. The company recently launched a comprehensive rocker arm production department featuring 14 state-of-the-art universal presses and precision tooling for a full range of popular automotive and performance applications.
In addition to its new in-house rocker arm department, Elgin has expanded its portfolio of other original equipment and replacement engine components, including valves; valve springs, spring inserts, retainers, seats, locks and guides; lifters; oil pumps; push rods; timing components and sets; and Elgin PRO-STOCK performance components. Elgin also offers a broad range of replacement automotive chassis components as well as precision-engineered OE and replacement king pins and sets for commercial vehicles.
“There aren’t too many full-line family-owned manufacturers left that are committed to the success of automotive professionals,” said Elgin President Bill Skok. “Our company has enjoyed 88 years of consistent, strong growth by delivering the quality, service and value these business owners need.
“Our new rocker arm production cell is an important investment not only in our business, but in the future of hundreds of companies at every level of the aftermarket that have been looking for a reliable, high-quality source of these parts.”
