The power of natural gas came to Tenneco Inc.’s Monroe, MI, facility during a recent visit by the EcoFuel World Tour. Sponsored by Tenneco, the tour’s VW Caddy is outfitted with the company’s exhaust and ride control technologies, which are designed to meet the needs of tomorrow’s alternative fuel applications.

The EcoFuel Caddy features an emission control system from Walker Exhaust, which further reduces emissions from the Caddy’s natural-gas combustion system. The system ensures a smooth, continuous flow of exhaust gases out of the engine, improving engine performance while reducing drive-by noise.

The Caddy also features Monroe’s advanced Position Sensitive Twin System (PST) shock absorbers, which are particularly suited to the vehicle’s unique demands. The PST shocks adjust to various vehicle loads, making them ideal for the Caddy, as its weight is subject to constant change as the gas tanks are emptied and replenished.

The EcoFuel World Tour is a 180-day, 31,000-mile, worldwide tour that is traveling to five continents to demonstrate the worldwide availability of environmentally-friendly and low-priced compressed natural gas.

Tenneco markets its products principally under the Monroe, Walker, Gillet and Clevite Elastomer brand names. Among its products are Sensa-Trac and Monroe Reflex shocks and struts, Rancho suspension systems and shock absorbers, Walker Quiet-Flow mufflers, DynoMax performance exhaust products, and Clevite Elastomer noise, vibration and harshness control components.
