Driver Loses Control, Runs into Auto Repair Lot

Des Moines, Iowa – Police are investigating a Wednesday morning accident where one car lost control and hit several vehicles in an auto repair shop’s parking lot.

Police say 86-year-old Dolores Schulver of Des Moines was traveling eastbound on Ingersoll Ave. in a Ford Taurus just before 10:00 a.m. when she lost control and plowed into the Midas parking lot. Her car hit three other vehicles and one of those went airborne and landed on another vehicle in a side alley.

Police say Schulver told them she was planning to turn south onto MLK Parkway when her brakes failed. That’s when she struck the cars in the Midas lot.

No one was injured in the incident.

No charges have been filed against Schulver at this point but police say she could be charged with failure to maintain control if they find there was no mechanical error with her brakes.
