At Martinsville Speedway this past Sunday, Denny Hamlin earned his first victory of the ’08 season, and his first win in his home state of Virginia. In addition, the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Goody’s Cool Orange 500 provided SPICER Chassis, the most technologically advanced chassis parts in the business, with its second victory of the season. Hamlin, in the number 11 car, edged out second-place finisher Jeff Gordon by .398 seconds. Tony Stewart, Hamlin’s teammate on the Joe Gibbs Racing Team, finished fifth.

“What can I say? Another great win for the Joe Gibbs team on SPICER Chassis,” said Ken Myers, Affinia Marketing Manager-Branded Product. “We are really happy that Denny was able to get a win in his home state on this challenging half-mile short track.”

Hamlin, a native of Chesterfield, VA, failed to win in his first nine tries on Virginia tracks. His previous best finish at Martinsville was second on Oct. 22, 2006. This win gives Hamlin his fourth career Sprint Cup victory.
