Delphi Expands its Condenser Product Lines and Enhances Mass Air Flow Sensor Technology

Condenser expansion delivers 75 percent coverage; redesigned mass air flow sensor improves performance and fuel economy.

Delphi recently announced that it is focused on continued improvements to its existing product lines.

Delphi is expanding it condenser line to include 40 additional new parts by March 2010. This expands Delphi’s condenser coverage to include an additional 25 million late-model vehicle applications, bringing Delphi’s coverage to more than 75 percent of the vehicles on the road among 1998 through 2009 model years.

“We’re in a position to continually expand our product portfolio to provide a wide range of high-quality products, by leveraging Delphi’s complete global original equipment offering,” said Ian Voce, global marketing director, independent aftermarket, Delphi Product & Service Solutions. “We remain committed to serving our customers by delivering the products they require to meet their daily repair needs.”

Delphi’s OE-quality, lightweight, compact condensers are efficient and high-performance. Superior quality is obtained through manufacturing process controls to ensure that the internal passages of Delphi condensers are leak-free, properly dried, and capped for shipping and storage. In addition, all Delphi condensers are manufactured to meet specified performance standards and undergo extensive performance testing including vibration, burst, corrosion and pressure cycle testing as well as thermal and hydrodynamic tests.

Delphi also announced that it is launching a redesigned line of Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensors with improved flow dynamics that produce higher-accuracy air flow measurements and better performance in extreme temperature ranges.

Delphi has redesigned its first-generation MAF Sensor to eliminate the heavy all-metal housing. Engineers at Delphi have also upgraded these sensors with their latest fifth-generation sensing technology. The new all-plastic design of the Delphi 1.5-S MAF Sensor weighs 75 percent less than the aluminum version it replaces. What’s more, the fifth-generation probe provides more precise fuel trim by up to 2 percent, which helps improve fuel economy.

“Delphi was the first to develop mass air flow sensing technology as an integral component of emission control and fuel management in gasoline engines,” said Voce. “We remain an industry leader in mass air flow sensing technology development, leveraging our OE engineering to provide improved aftermarket products.”

The new 1.5-S MAF sensors are produced exclusively by Delphi for the independent aftermarket. Delphi’s 1.5-S MAF sensors product line includes part numbers for late-1990s through 2008 GM applications for both passenger cars and light trucks. The Delphi’s MAF Sensor line is also being introduced in an attractive full-graphics box.
