CRP Automotive
now offers a new line of Rein Automotive Brake Hoses for popular European vehicles. The Rein Automotive Brake Hose line is designed as a direct replacement for OE hoses and assemblies and is identical in form, fit, and function to the OE parts. Rein Automotive offers applications for many European vehicle makes and models, including Audi, BMW, Mercedes Benz, Mini, Porsche, Saab and Volkswagen.

Because Rein Automotive brake hoses are designed as direct replacements, the company says technicians will be able to quickly and easily complete the brake hose replacement, saving the shop time and money. In addition to advocating the use of direct replacement hoses, CRP Automotive also recommends replacing the brake hoses on both sides of the axle during a brake hose service and repair.

When servicing brakes, it’s a standard practice to inspect the brake hose and replace it if there is evidence of any cracking or if it shows signs of leaking. However, the need to replace a hose may not be evident on the outside. After five years of use, the inside diameter of the brake hose can start to swell or collapse due to moisture and heat, restricting the proper flow of the brake fluid. As the hose deteriorates it can breakdown and contaminate the brake fluid with particles.

Paul Swyter, Rein Automotive brand manager, said, “We recommend that technicians replace both brake hoses on a per axle basis to ensure even braking performance and wear. If the brake hoses aren’t replaced in pairs, the delivery of brake fluid to the calipers could be uneven, causing the vehicle to pull to one side. Brake reaction time could be slower and additional pressure may need to be applied to the brake pedal.”
