Continental Elevates G-Max Name with New Tire Rollout

The new General G-Max AS-03, an all-weather UHP, will replace the Exclaim UHP and provide even greater size options for dealers and drivers. CTA said the new tire "delivers precise response in dry and wet conditions, with excellent light snow grip."

It’s out with the fairly new and in with the new new at Continental Tire the Americas, which has announced a replacement for its five-year-old General Exclaim UHP.

The new General G-Max AS-03, an all-weather UHP, will replace the Exclaim UHP and provide even greater size options for dealers and drivers. CTA said the new tire “delivers precise response in dry and wet conditions, with excellent light snow grip.”

That’s not the only change connected with the new tire, which was rolled out to dealers and media at Infineon Raceway in Sonoma, Calif., this week. The G-Max name will become the family name for all General-branded high performance tires, much as Altimax has become the group name for General touring and winter products, and Grabber for light truck and medium truck tires.

The G-Max AS-03 will begin rolling out to dealers as of April 4 with 35 initial sizes, including six 20-inch sizes previously unavailable under the Exclaim UHP. The remaining 28 sizes will come in by August, with the entire W/V speed-rated line covering 15- through 20-inch wheel diameters.

The new General G-Max AS-03 features a unique directional tread pattern developed to improve wet traction and reduce road noise. In addition, the tire features CTA’s 3D Sipe Technology, with raised interlocking tread elements for dry performance and winter grip; RTM (replacement tire monitor) Technology, where when the tread reaches 2/32nds of an inch in depth the words “Replace Tire” appear; and VAI (visual alignment indicators) Technology, which provides drivers with an easy visual cue when their vehicle needs an alignment.

With a 480 AA UTQG rating, the new tire comes with a 40,000-mile limited treadwear warranty and a 45-day free trial guarantee.
