The 48th running of the Daytona 500 lived up to its billing as “the Great American Race” by keeping both fans and drivers on the edge of their seats. The No. 48 Lowe’s Chevrolet Monte Carlo team knew all along that they had what it took to make it to victory lane a strong team at the shop, a fast and dedicated crew at the track, a strong driver and the help of Clevite 77 engine bearings, Victor Reinz gaskets and Perfect Circle piston rings.
“Clevite Engine Parts congratulates Jimmie Johnson on his hard-fought victory in this year’s Daytona 500,” said Ted Hughes, light vehicle brand manager for Clevite Engine Parts. “Clevite is proud of and deeply committed to our strong relationship with Hendrick Motorsports. They were one of the first teams to use all of our performance engine bearing, gasket and piston ring products, and we look forward to working with them to further engine building technology for every team in NASCAR and other areas of racing.”
“The folks at Clevite have stood behind Hendrick Motorsports and other performance engine builders and machinists by providing us with the highest quality parts, service and support in the industry,” said Jeff Andrews, director of engine development for Hendrick Motorsports. “We appreciate their support both on the track and in the shop and look forward to continuing our partnership.”
In 2005, Jeff Gordon, driver of the Hendrick Motorsports No. 24 DuPont Chevrolet raced his way to victory lane for the third time. Jimmie Johnson’s efforts in that race helped him secure a top five finish. Both cars in that race had all three Clevite brands under the hood.
