Champion Spark Plugs Power Top Seven Finishers in Saturday’s NASCAR Samsung Mobile 500

Cars powered by Federal-Mogul's Champion spark plugs swept the top seven positions in Saturday night's NASCAR Samsung Mobile 500 Sprint Cup series event at Texas Motor Speedway.

Cars powered by Federal-Mogul’s Champion spark plugs swept the top seven positions in Saturday night’s NASCAR Samsung Mobile 500 Sprint Cup series event at Texas Motor Speedway. The #17 Crown Royal Black Ford driven by Matt Kenseth became the fifth Champion-powered car to take the checkered flag in the first seven Sprint Cup events of 2011.

Kenseth, who captured his first Cup victory of the year, was followed to the finish line by Clint Bowyer (#33 Chevrolet), Carl Edwards (#99 Ford), Greg Biffle (#16 Ford), Paul Menard (#27 Chevrolet), Marcos Ambrose (#9 Ford), and David Ragan (#6 Ford) – all of whom also relied on “Performance Driven” Champion plugs.

“Champion spark plugs are preferred by many of today’s most successful NASCAR teams, as well as leading teams in many other forms of racing,” said Federal-Mogul Motorsports Director Tim Nelson. “Engine builders choose Champion because they know they’re going to get exceptional combustion efficiency and the strength needed to withstand the extreme operating temperatures and pressures encountered in today’s most powerful engines.

“That’s as powerful a statement as you can get when it comes to overall plug performance and reliability.”

Champion plugs for NASCAR engines feature leading-edge projected surface gap designs that help optimize spark location for maximum burn rate of each cylinder’s air-fuel charge.

Each plug is equipped with a solid nickel core electrode for superior performance and thermal efficiency. The same Champion plug designs used in NASCAR competition are available through any Champion spark plug dealer.
