Cataclean Adding Distributors in the U.S.

An innovative new product called Cataclean is fast becoming the “it” chemical for many professionals to address carbon buildup problems that occur as a result of unburned gasoline or diesel during the combustion cycle, changing the way technicians look at chemicals as a tool to better service their customers and keep them coming back.

Though it’s been around in Europe and Britain for more than 10 years, the product is available in the U.S. through a growing list of premium aftermarket wholesale distributors. The company expects to have distributors in all 50 states by 3rd quarter 2010.

When used properly, Cataclean strips away carbon buildup in a number of components including fuel injectors, cylinder heads, oxygen sensors and the catalytic converter. The chemical’s cleaning process also helps restore proper air-to-fuel ratio, resulting in a cleaner burn within the combustion chamber, lower emissions output, and the restoration of lost fuel economy and power.

Cataclean is safe and effective in both gasoline and diesel vehicles, and has also been proven to reduce smoke opacity emissions in large vehicle fleets such as heavy-duty trucks, buses and coaches.

“We’ve done our own testing on the product and we’re convinced of its ability to reduce emissions and restore lost fuel economy,” says Ken Loss, branch manager of Atlantic Detroit Diesel-Allison, of Piscataway, NJ. “With the EPA working aggressively to reduce pollution from diesel trucks [and buses] by requiring tougher emission standards, our role is to identify and procure new products like Cataclean that truly save our customers money, reduce harmful pollutants, and comply with current and impending regulation of our industry,” Loss continued.

The market acceptance of Cataclean has been a continual evolution – driven by feedback from automotive professionals. Initially, Cataclean was used as an emissions reduction product to help vehicles pass state and local emissions tests. As more and more automotive professionals adopted the product, they quickly learned that it was even more effective as a tool to solve non-mechanical, carbon-related driveability issues such as power restoration, hesitation, rough idle and hard starts.

As one technician put it, “When you think about it, a car is a breathing machine and we are simply giving it a fresh set of lungs by using your product.” Cataclean continues to actively seek feedback from installers and distributors like Rich Pallai, VP of marketing for BWP/CARQUEST.

Pallai recalls, “I was skeptical at first, but once we took the program to the street it quickly grew traction.  The widespread acceptance and overall success of the program has been surprising.”

Cataclean’s patented formula appears to be unique in the market, claims Managing Director, Greg Gannon, who says “we respect our competitors in the automotive chemical industry but we really don’t view them as traditional competition. We are not an additive; we are a cleaner, utilizing the highest grade chemicals available and free of “fillers” typically found in the additive category. We have not found any product on the market that can meet or exceed Cataclean’s ability to address carbon buildup with the testing proof to back up our claims.”
