CARQUEST and the Mobile Air Conditioning Society (MACS) Worldwide have teamed up to find the best mobile air conditioning and heat transfer service technician in North America. The winner will receive an exciting prize package that includes the opportunity to participate in the opening ceremonies at the CARQUEST 300 in Charlotte, NC, in May 2008.

“CARQUEST is dedicated to providing world-class training and original equipment manufactured products for professional automotive technicians,” said Adam Dawson, product manager for CARQUEST Temperature Controls. “We are proud to support MACS and training among mobile A/C and heat transfer automotive technicians.”

Technicians who are certified in refrigerant recycling and recovery may sign up now at www.carquest.com/macs to participate in a series of written and hands-on skill assessments to test their mobile A/C and heat transfer service knowledge. Canadian technicians need not be Section 609 certified as this is a U.S. requirement of all mobile A/C technicians. Canadian technicians follow provincial laws governing the recovery and recycling of refrigerants.

The winner of the CARQUEST-MACS technical skills competition will be announced at the Keynote Luncheon sponsored by CARQUEST at the MACS Worldwide 28th annual Convention and Trade Show, Current Events January 31-February 3, 2008 at Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort in Orlando, FL.

“MACS thanks CARQUEST for bringing our vision of a technician competition to life for a second year. It is a great way to bring attention to the mobile A/C, heat transfer service specialty and inspire more technicians to sharpen their skills and comply with Section 609 requirements,” remarked Elvis L. Hoffpauir, MACS president and chief operating officer.
