CARQUEST and the Mobile Air Conditioning Society (MACS) Worldwide have teamed up for the third year in a row to find the best mobile air conditioning and heat transfer service technician in North America. In order to allow more technicians who would like to participate time to sign-up, the deadline for registration has been extended until Thursday, July 31, 2008. Registration can be completed at www.carquest.com/partsMacs.html.

The winner will receive an exciting grand prize package and the title of A/C-Heat Transfer Technician of the Year. The grand prize includes $1000 in American Airlines gift certificates, $500 in Hilton hotels gift certificates, a CineMate home theater system by Bose (or similar) and a once in a lifetime CARQUEST racing experience.

The first runner up will receive $750 in American Airlines Gift Certificates, $250 in Hilton hotels gift certificates and a $400 Bose gift certificate. The second runner up will receive $500 in American Airlines gift certificates and a $300 Bose gift certificate.

Technicians who are certified in refrigerant recycling and recovery may sign up to participate in a series of written and hands-on skill assessments to test their mobile A/C and heat transfer service knowledge. Canadian technicians need not be Section 609 certified as this is a U.S. requirement of all mobile A/C technicians. Canadian technicians follow provincial laws governing the recovery and recycling of refrigerants.

The winner of the CARQUEST-MACS technical skills competition will be announced at the Awards Luncheon sponsored by CARQUEST at the MACS Worldwide 29th annual Convention and Trade Show, New Frontiers in Mobile A/C Service to be held February 5-7, 2009 at the Hilton Anatole, Dallas, TX.
