As of September 1, 2007 at 17:00:00 PDT, the bidding closed on the helmet worn by Scott Riggs during the August 21, 2007 NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series race. The www.ebay.com auction opened August 22, 2007 with fans starting an early bidding war to own a piece of NASCAR history.

The helmet, a one-of-a-kind scheme designed by Ryan Young at Indocil Art, worn by Riggs as he took the wheel of the Auto Value/Bumper to Bumper #10 Dodge was autographed by the Evernham team member directly after the race.

The $1,410 winning bid proceeds will go directly to support Charity Cars Inc. and the 2007 Auto Value/Bumper to Bumper Charity Cars Campaign. The aftermarket giant joined forces with The Original 1-800-Charity Cars in a massive project to seek, secure and refurbish vehicles to be presented to more than 500 qualified recipients at grand award ceremonies to be held throughout 2007.

“We’ve been asking for vehicle donations since we kicked-off the program, but not everyone has a car to give. Cash donations are just as important,” said Steve Marks, senior vice president, advertising/marketing for Auto Value/Bumper to Bumper. “The support from the Evernham Racing Team has been outstanding and has meant a great deal to us and the people who will benefit from their generosity.” Accountability plays an important role in the program.
