AMSOIL INC., a manufacturer of synthetic oil, has teamed up with hot-rod building legend, Boyd Coddington, in an effort to build a car for Speed Week 2007 at the legendary Bonneville Salt Flats, located in Tooele County, UT.
The goal of the project is to go over 200 mph with a car based on a 1927 Ford Model T Roadster. The project will be featured on Coddington’s cable TV show, American Hot Rod, this fall, and will be driven at Bonneville by Coddington’s wife, Jo. The car will be powered by intercooled, turbo-charged, 2.0 liter Ecotec engine made by General Motors, and will produce upwards of 1200 horsepower! It will also feature a Liberty 6-Speed transmission, Winter’s quick-change rear-end, and a single cockpit. In order to compete in the 200+ mph category the car must also feature racing tires with 1" lugs on racing wheels, two parachutes, a reverse gear lockout, a 5-pound fire extinguisher must be located within the cab, and the body of the car must feature a neat appearance. The AMSOIL/Coddington will feature AMSOIL racing lubricants, gear oil, transmission fluid, coolant and special AMSOIL Ea Filters.
