AMI Announces 2010 AVI Education Scholarship Recipients

The Automotive Management Institute (AMI), in conjunction with Automotive Video, Inc. (AVI), recently announced Gary Keyes, E&M Motors, Inc., Stuart, FL, and Rosario Lucas, Express Tire & Auto Repair, Azusa, CA, as the recipients of the "AVI Education Scholarship." The scholarship recognizes automotive service professionals who have a strong desire to improve their management and technical skills.

The Automotive Management Institute (AMI), in conjunction with Automotive Video, Inc. (AVI), recently announced Gary Keyes, E&M Motors, Inc., Stuart, FL, and Rosario Lucas, Express Tire & Auto Repair, Azusa, CA, as the recipients of the “AVI Education Scholarship.” The scholarship recognizes automotive service professionals who have a strong desire to improve their management and technical skills. Each recipient will receive $1,000 to be applied toward expenses to attend seminars offered during the AVI Training Conference in Las Vegas, Nov. 4-5, 2010.

Keyes has worked in the automotive service industry for more than 38 years and has been a shop owner for the last 27 years. He is an ASE Certified Master Technician and earned the Institute’s Accredited Automotive Manager (AAM) designation in 2004. Keyes is a member of the Automotive Service Association (ASA). He currently serves on the Martin County High School Automotive Technology Advisory Board. When not working in the shop, he contributes his time to various community and industry organizations.

“I’m grateful to receive this scholarship. It offers me the opportunity to attend the conference for some serious, top notch training,” said Keyes.

Lucas has worked in the automotive service industry as a shop owner for the last 10 years. She is currently working on completing the necessary requirements to earn the Institute’s Accredited Automotive Manager (AAM) designation. When not working in the shop, she contributes her time to various community and industry organizations.

“I’m honored and grateful to have been selected for this scholarship. It offers me the opportunity to learn critical skills from the best automotive instructors in the industry,” said Lucas.

AMI was established to answer the demand for continuing education tailored specifically for the business needs of the automotive service industry. The Institute offers the Accredited Automotive Manager (AAM) designation, the first business management accreditation exclusively for the automotive service professional.
