ACDelco Introduces Cabin Air Filter Retrofit Kits

ACDelco
has introduced cabin air filter retrofit kits, creating what it says could be a potential $350 million dollar business opportunity for vehicle service centers for more than 7 million Chevrolet, GMC and Cadillac trucks and SUVs.

The kit includes a cover, bolt and fastener and is designed for easy installation in 2007-’14 models of the Chevrolet Silverado, Tahoe, Suburban and Avalanche and the GMC Sierra and Yukon and the Cadillac Escalade. The kit is a one-time installation and can be reused for each filter replacement.

The ACDelco cabin air filters themselves are highly engineered components that meet OE specifications:

  • A multi-layered design using woven and non-woven media help separate and trap dust and pollen particles without compromising airflow
  • Electrostatic multi-layer inserts can help trap up to 95 percent of dirt, dust, pollen and other unwanted pollutants, down to 10 microns in size

“These kits can actually help customers avoid expensive repairs down the road,” said ACDelco Filtration Specialist Tom Gundry. “Cabin air filters help keep heater cores and air conditioners from becoming clogged, which can create odor problems and make the climate control system very inefficient. We have all been in vehicles that are too hot, too cold or smell bad. It’s just not pleasant but it can be avoided with a relatively small investment. There’s a real business opportunity for shops here.”

Installation is simple and takes only 30 minutes. Once installed, cabin air filters should be changed every 22,500 miles under normal driving conditions. Drivers who drive on dirt roads or in hot, dry climates like Texas should change them more frequently.
