The fabled BFGoodrich Radial T/A, considered one of the first American-made high performance tires, is celebrating its 40th anniversary this year.

To celebrate, Michelin North America has developed the BFGoodrich Radial T/A Spec Redline Edition tire for a special project car to be featured at the NSRA Nationals in Louisville, KY.

The Radial T/A has starred in a number of movies and TV shows, has been a mainstay at hundreds of major motorsport series events, and was instrumental in numerous speed record runs.

“The legendary performance heritage of the BFGoodrich Radial T/A tire is simply one of a kind,” said Richard Winchester, a 40-plus year BFGoodrich Tires employee and original Radial T/A "Team T/A" member. “The Radial T/A tire is both old-school and new-school, with proven performance and the must-have fitments for muscle cars, street rods and light trucks.”

“During the past 40 years, the Radial T/A has contributed to a variety of looks,” MNA said. “A notable group to take advantage of the plethora of BFGoodrich Radial T/A tire sizes was the custom van movement in the mid-1970s and early 1980s. BFGoodrich even built its own customized van, called ‘Futureshock,’ that featured a disco-themed interior and far-out paint job.”

In addition to appearing at the NSRA Nationals in Louisville, BFGoodrich has also teamed up with Hurst Performance Vehicles and TeamBFG member Kyle Tucker’s Detroit Speed and Engineering to introduce the Hurst Redline Camaro Series. The 2010 Hurst Redline Camaro, featuring BFGoodrich Radial T/A Spec Redline Edition tires, will be on tour throughout the summer and will be making stops at various Goodguys Tour events and finally in Las Vegas for the SEMA show.
