Title
C1233, Replaced Anti-Lock Brake Module Connector
Complaint
The customer states the anti-lock brake system (ABS) light is on.
Cause
Connected a scan tool and found code C1233 – Right Front Wheel Speed Circuit Open Or Shorted. Performed a road test, used the scan tool to monitor live data and found the right front ABS wheel speed sensor signal parameter was not present. Visually inspected the right front ABS wheel speed sensor wiring harness and found no obvious signs of damage. Disconnected the right front ABS wheel speed sensor connector, visually inspected the connector and terminals and found no obvious signs of damage. Sprayed the right front ABS wheel speed sensor with water, used a multimeter to measure the resistance of the sensor and found the measured resistance was within specifications. Performed a visual inspection of the anti-lock brake module and found the connector was damaged.
Correction
Replaced the anti-lock brake module connector, cleared codes, performed a road test and verified the vehicle operated properly. The ABS light did not illuminate and no fault codes returned.
