Akebono Brake Corp. Awarded ‘Best Advertising’ For Its ‘People Of Akebono’ Print Campaign

The Auto Care Association’s Import Vehicle Community awarded Akebono’s People of Akebono advertising campaign “Best Merchandising/Advertising of a Product for Import Cars or Trucks” as part of its 2018 Import Product and Marketing Awards. The Akebono team, led by Dr. Wilm Uhlenbecker, president and CEO, accepted the award Tuesday at AAPEX in Las Vegas.

“The People of Akebono ad campaign was introduced in 2018 to showcase the many faces of the brand, including those who engineer our aftermarket brake pads and those who use them – installers, shop owners and technicians,” said Uhlenbecker. “Each ad celebrates our dedicated employees, valued customers and continued focus on U.S manufacturing and R&D.”

The Import Vehicle Community considered various contenders for import vehicle product and marketing solutions in 10 categories. Winners were selected based on superiority in areas of commercial success, quality of reputation, market demand, distribution, presentation and packaging, and highest profit potential for the distribution chain.
